Today may be just another day
But its another day without you
Another day I don’t get to see you
Your smiling face and meaningful eyes.
There’s a part of me missing
A part of me lost in the darkness
A piece of me that died with you.
You hugged me when I cried
Sat me on your knee when I was hurt
You showed me how to do so much.
Taught me the rules of golf
With a pink club and a yellow ball
And swung higher than I’d ever been
A tyre covered in dirt.
You made me smile, you made me laugh,
You filled me with hope and determination.
And now you’re gone, God said it was time,
We knew it was coming
but I could never have known,
That when you went, you took the best of me.
